URL encoder & decoder
ReadyPercent-encode text for URLs or decode it back, as a single value (encodeURIComponent) or a whole address (encodeURI), with an option for + as space. Query parameters are listed when decoding.
Files you choose are processed entirely in this browser and are never uploaded to a server.
How to use
- Choose encode or decode and paste your text.
- When encoding, choose whether it’s a single value or a whole URL.
- Tick the + option for HTML form encoding. When decoding, query parameters are shown in a table.
Formula
- Characters outside the unreserved set (A–Z a–z 0–9 - _ . ~) become %XX for each UTF-8 byte
Worked example
café & bar → caf%C3%A9%20%26%20bar
FAQ
Single value or whole URL?
Encode a single value when you put it inside a query string – it also encodes & = ? / #. Encode a whole URL to keep its structure (https://, ?, &, =) and only convert spaces and non-ASCII characters.
Why do I get an error when decoding?
There’s a % that isn’t followed by two hex digits, or the bytes aren’t valid UTF-8. The error tells you where.
