Currency converter

Ready

Convert between 31 major currencies, including USD, at the daily reference rate. The source, publication date and any delay are shown, and you can type your own rate if the lookup fails.

How to use

  1. Choose the currency you have, the currency you want and the amount. Use ⇄ to swap them.
  2. The reference rate our server fetched is shown at the top with its source and date. If it says “Delayed value”, check the date.
  3. To use your bank’s rate, choose “Enter a rate” and type how much of the target currency one unit buys.
  4. Add an exchange fee (%) to see what you’d actually receive after the spread.

Formula

  • Converted amount = amount × rate (target currency per 1 unit of the source currency)
  • You receive = converted amount × (1 − fee %)
  • Inverse rate = 1 ÷ rate

Worked example

If 1 USD = 0.92 EUR, then 100 USD is 92 EUR. With a 1.5% exchange fee you’d receive 90.62 EUR. (Rates here are illustrative.)

FAQ

Why does my bank give me a different amount?

We show the mid-market reference rate. Banks and exchange bureaus add a spread, often 1–3% or more for cash. Enter that difference in the fee field or type the bank’s rate directly.

Is the rate live?

No. The default source, Frankfurter, publishes European Central Bank reference rates once per business day. The publication date is shown next to the rate.

What if it says “Lookup failed”?

The rate service couldn’t be reached and we have no recent value under 24 hours old. Choose “Enter a rate” and type the rate you want to use.
